字體美學 (typography) 是一種排列字體的藝術和技術，使標題更美觀吸引，使書刊文字在顯示時清晰、可讀且具有吸引力。字體美學的排列包括造字或選擇合適現成的字款、粗幼、行寬、行距、字母間距以及字母之間的間距。排版 (typesetting) 一詞也適用於該過程創建的字母、數字和符號的樣式、排列和外觀。字體美學是一門密切相關的工藝，有時被認為是排版的一部分；大多數印刷師並不設計字體，有些字體設計師也不認為自己是印刷師。字體美學也可以用作裝飾和裝潢設備，與訊息傳達無關。
